First day of Feedly

The topics were pretty well spread out on Feedly. They ranged from politics to news stories to fun articles as well. The first article I read about was about a woman being declared insane after she killed her son and injured her husband in a stabbing incident in 2017. Her name is Ebony Olowu and she was 37 when a judge found her not guilty for the stabbing due to insanity. She had stabbed her husband and told him “he had to die”. When the police arrived on scene she was found with slits on her wrists. Down the line they found her guilty of murder attempted murder felony could abuse as well as assault. Psychiatrists said she suffered from ptsd and depression. She told the psychiatrists that God had said for her to kill her son.

The second article I read about was how the Summer Olympic Games would play out with the developing corona virus. This is relevant because many people have begun to worry about the spread of this virus and how it would affect where the games are hosted. Japan still has their mind set on hosting the summer Olympic games despite the outbreak. I believe the first article was informed based off police reports and court trials. I think the second one was informed based off of interviews as well as medical research. The authors of the articles I read did what a journalist was supposed to do, and they supplied me with factual information rather than opinion based. This let me form my own opinion on the matter just with the information given. The first article followed a police report like structure. There were lines of information each helping to answer the questions I posed from the last. The second was definitely more information based because it was more of a topic that could be reported more in depth on. It had pictures and charts showing where the virus had spread.
